Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown reconciled with the Cleveland Browns and will have an official role with the team.

Jimmy Haslam, the new owner of the team, said he is finalizing plans to hire Brown, who played for the Browns between 1957 and 1965.

“Jim Brown and I have spent a lot of time together. We spent about an hour together last night, and I think we’ve established a really good relationship, and I think sometime over the next two or three weeks we'll formalize that relationship and Jim will play the appropriate role with the Cleveland Browns,” Haslam said in Phoenix, reported ESPN.

He added: “I think he feels good about it and I think we feel good about it, and rightfully so. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him, not just as a great football player, but as a man,” reported the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Haslam said that he would not say what position Brown would take.

“It’s a big deal and that’s why I want to do it right. In the next couple of weeks we'll announce something,” he said.

Brown, 77, used to serve as a consultant and a liason between the team and its players. However, during Mike Holmgren’s tenure as general manager, Brown was removed from his role as an adviser, according to ESPN.

Brown then boycotted working with the Browns until late last year.

In his nine seasons with the team, Brown rushed for 12,312 yards before he retired to launch an acting career. He was indicted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
