Janet Jackson married Qatar fashion businessman Wissam Al Mana last year, it was confirmed on Monday.
Singer Janet Jackson on Monday confirmed that she is married to Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, tying the knot last year.
There were a number of rumors and media reports saying the two would get married in the near future.
“The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private and beautiful ceremony,” Jackson and Al Mana said on Monday in a joint statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
They added: “Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities.”
The website US Weekly broke the story about the two getting married in December 2012, citing unnamed sources.
“We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy,” their statement reads.
Al Mana, 37, has made hundreds of millions of dollars as the managing director of Al Mana Retail, which represents Armani Exchange and others. He is also a shareholder with Saks Fifth Avenue, according to the Daily Mail tabloid.
