The US company Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced the new EliteBook Folio 1020 family, which the company claims is the industry’s thinnest and lightest business-class notebook line. The line consists of the EliteBook 1020 and EliteBook 1020 Special Edition models.
The EliteBook 1020 notebook is extremely thin at just 15.7 mm, while the so-called EliteBook 1020 Special Edition (SE)notebook makes use of HP’s exclusive blend of magnesium-lithium alloy and reusable carbon fiber to achieve weight of only 1 kg (2.2 lbs). Both models share a cutting-edge design that offers business class performance.
“The HP EliteBook 1020 represents game-changing innovation in both materials and mechanical engineering to create the world’s thinnest and lightest business notebooks in a form factor that enables our customers to be more productive in more places,” said Alex Cho, vice president & general manager, HP Commercial PCs. “Customers demand not only a stylish, thin and light notebook, but also a device that delivers advanced security and can withstand the rigorous demands that come with a highly mobile lifestyle — and the HP EliteBook 1020 delivers this complete solution.”
The new HP EliteBook 1020 and EliteBook 1020 SE have been designed with mobility and battery life in mind and both notebooks provide up to 9 hours of battery life for a full work day.
The notebooks are also very sturdy as they have been designed to pass military-grade (MIL-STD 810G) testing, which includes drops, shocks and exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity. In addition both devices come with HP Client Management Solutions and optional LANDesk and Intel vPro technology to easily integrate and deploy into an enterprise IT environment.
The notebooks include HP’s exclusive enterprise-class security, including certified Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2/2.0, pre-boot authentication, fingerprint reader and the exclusive HP Sure Start self-healing BIOS to help better protect your device, data and identity.
The rest of the known specs include a high resolution 12.5-inch diagonal Quad HD (QHD) display and HP’s Premium Keyboard, which is a newly designed keyboard that provides optimized, consistent key response based on user testing and feedback, a 720p web camera, front speakers with HD audio with DTS Studio Sound and HP Noise Reduction Software, which make the notebooks extremely suitable for web conferences.
Along with the EliteBook 1020, HP has announced updates to earlier EliteBook models, which will now feature the latest Intel Core processors, enhanced security features with HP Client Security and HP BIOSphere, HP Noise Reduction Software for greater clarity in collaborative environments and more.
