HONG KONG—The quarter finals of the Hong Kong Squash Championships for both men and women took place at the Hong Kong Squash Centre on Thursday June 11, 2015.
There were no surprises as the top 2-seeds for both men and women progressed to the semi-finals to be played on Friday June 12. Annie Au beat Ho Tze Lok 11-1. 12-10, 11-4; Joey Chan beat Li Ka Yi 11-8, 12-10, 11-7 and Leo Au beat Chris, Lo Cheuk Hin. Of the top seeds, Max Lee had the hardest match but prevailed over 18 years old Yuen Tsun Hei 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 11-7. Max was not at his sharpest tinning more than a dozen intended drop shots but played well enough to come away intact.
The semi-finals line up to be played on Friday June 12.
In the women’s semi-finals Annie Au will play Tong Tsz Wing who overcame Vanessa, Chu Man Yee in the quarter final 16-14, 11-6, 11-4, and Joey Chan will play Liu Tsz Ling who won her quarter final match against Carmen Lee 11-2, 11-8, 11-6.
In the men’s semi-finals Max Lee will play Wong Chi Him who beat Tang Cheuk Yan in the quarter final 11-7, 11-8, 11-0, and Leo Au will meet Yip Tsz Fung who defeated Henry, Leung Chi Hin 11-8, 11-3, 11-6.
Top 8
Hong Kong Squash Association takes the opportunity in the National Championship to grade the top 8 players by playing 4-matches each day in both the men’s and women’s Top-8 competition. Winners of the “real quarter finals” play normal semifinal matches, with the winners going on to play for the Championship and the losers playing for 3rd and 4th places. Losers at the quarter finals stage play subordinate “semi-final” matches with the winners going on to play for places 5 and 6. While the losers play for places 7 and 8.

For the women’s positions 5 to 8, Ho Tsz Lok will play Vanessa, Chu Man Yee and Carmen Lee will play Le Ka Yi, with the winners progressing to play for positions 5 and 6 and the losers playing for positions 7 and 8.
For the men’s positions 5 to 8, Yuen Tsun Hei plays Tang Cheuk Yan, and Henry, Leung Chi Hin will meet Chris, Lo Cheuk Hin with the winners progressing to play for positions 5 and 6 and the losers playing for positions 7 and 8.

Peter Hill played two matches on Thursday June 11, first beating Wilson, Chan Shui Lun in Round-2 11-5, 11-7, 11-4 but bowing out in a 4-game Round-3 match against Matthew, Lai Cheuk Nam 9-11, 11-6, 13-11, 11-8.
The semi-final matches are Matthew Lai against Hugo, Ho Tze Ho, and Harley, Lam Yat Ting against Andes, Ling To Yu.
