Metro-North Railroad service was temporarily disrupted today because of a fire at the 138th Street bridge over the Harlem river. Service is now back to normal, according to the company’s customer information service.
The location of the fire hampered its accessibility, as reported by WNYC, and though “a marine unit helped extinguish the fire, the greatest challenge was setting up a hose long enough to reach the fire.”
No injuries were reported. Those affected included customers of all three lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines. Earlier this afternoon, they were advised to use the 4 or D subway trains. This changes are no longer necessary since full service is now restored.
