Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished third in passer rating this season in the league and first in the NFC, trailing behind only Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers’ Philip Rivers.
Rodgers posted a 101.2 passer rating while Brady had a rating of 111.0 and Rivers had a rating of 101.8. His rating was the best in the NFC, beating Matt Ryan (91.0) of the Atlanta Falcons and Drew Brees (90.9) of the New Orleans Saints.
Rodgers finished the season with 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, and had 8.3 yards per pass attempt, which ranked him second in the league.
The Chico, Calif. native threw for 3,922 yards, almost becoming the first quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards in his first three seasons, the Associated Press reported. Rodgers did not start for one game this season after a concussion and was taken out of another game due to injury.
ESPN reported that Rodgers is still looking to prove that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league after getting snubbed when he was drafted in 2005.
“I did watch when Aaron didn’t get drafted early,” Ryan Grant, the Packers running back, told ESPN. “I do remember Aaron sitting there. … He’s definitely got a chip on his shoulder. That’s what you want.”
The Packers (10-6) beat the Chicago Bears 10-3 on Sunday, allowing them to secure a spot in the playoffs. They will play the Philadelphia Eagles (10-6) in the NFC wild card game this weekend.
