Germany are badly in need of a positive result against Armenia before they head off to Brazil.
Joachim Low’s men were held 0-0 by Poland and 2-2 by Cameroon in their first two pre-World Cup friendlies.
The Mainz encounter will be the Germany’s third game in 11 days, and the second against a team bound for the World Cup.
Low will hope that his side rise to the occasion with a good result ahead of Germany’s World Cup opener against Portugal on June 16.
In particular, Low singled out the need for Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm to perform better for the national side.
Low said, “Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm have won the Champions League and many national titles.”
“They already have more than 100 international caps and so many positives for German football.”
“They all have already had great careers but a world title would of course be the crowning glory, so to speak, the icing on the cake.”
