George Clooney and MTV to Host Telethon For Haitian Earthquake Victims

NEW YORK—Celebrities are making an effort to lend a hand to the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Hollywood star George Clooney is reportedly working with MTV on a telethon that could raise millions for the afflicted.

George Clooney has stated to US Magazine that he is rounding up celebrity friends to join him on MTV next Friday in an effort to generate donations to help those left homeless and hungry from the Haitian earthquake. The telethon will be syndicated throughout the U.S. and the entire globe on MTV and VH1.

Other celebrities and their non-profit foundations are taking action to assist the people of Haiti as well. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also made a substantial donation to Doctors Without Borders for those who need medical assistance in Haiti. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association made a large donation to Wyclef Jean’s earthquake relief fund.

Oprah made a statement on her show asking for the people of the world to help with the Haitian earthquake.

“This is a time where we, as a global nation, should come together and support those who are in need,” stated Oprah on her show, as quoted by US magazine.
