Four people were injured after a fire broke out at the State Department headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The fire started Saturday morning while workers were replacing insulation in the building’s ducts, officials told Reuters.
The fire was doused before the fire department arrived, according to District of Columbia Battalion Chief Edward Mills, who added that the blaze did not appear suspicious.
D.C. fire spokesman Lon Walls said that the fire “appears to be accidental,” reported The Washington Post. He said that all those who were injured were maintenance workers.
One of the injured workers was described as being in serious condition, according to the Post, while CNN reported that a person was in “life-threatening condition.” Another person fell off a ladder.
Victoria Nuland, spokeswoman for the State Department, said that the agency will be open for “normal weekend operations.”
There were few employees at the State Department building due to the holiday weekend, Walls told CNN.
