Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday said the state will take a look into the controversial “stand your ground” law that is at the center of the Trayvon Martin murder case, a news report said.

Scott named 15 people to be part of a task force to evaluate possible changes to the law, reported The Orlando Sentinel. Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman, the murder suspect in the Martin case, has used the law as his self-defense.

“We are a nation of laws, and I am committed to letting our legal system work to ensure the people of in our state are safe and protected,” Scott stated, adding that one of the members is Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll.

Scott added that he’s “a firm supporter of the Second Amendment” and wants to “make sure that we do not rush to conclusions about the ’stand your ground' law or any other laws in our state,” the Palm Beach Post reported.
