Candidates running for governor of Bangkok need to heed caution in handing out gifts this holiday season.
One of the stipulations under Thailand’s election laws forbids candidates from holding parties or handing out gifts that could be deemed to curry votes.
“If they go to Christmas or New Year parties, they must make sure they don’t hand out any gifts,” said Bangkok Election Committee chairman Ping Rungsamai, according to The Nation, a local news outlet.
A total of 14 candidates are vying for the governor seat. The election is scheduled for January 11.
