Zip ties are easy to come by; any hardware store sells them, and they are good to have on hand for use in an emergency. But what if someone is up to no good and has the intent of tying someone up?

If you were to find yourself in an unfortunate situation of being restrained with zip ties, it is useful to know just how to break free. Your first reaction would probably be to desperately wriggle your hands, trying to squeeze out of the bindings.

However, that wouldn’t do much good; it would only cause you pain and eventually swelling.

A useful tip on how to easily and quickly release cable ties

The girl in the video, which has the disclaimer “Use this technique at your own risk,” demonstrates how to snap them. It may cause a small amount of pain and skin scraping, but if your life was in danger, the discomfort of breaking the ties would amount to nothing.

The same goes for breaking the ties if your hands are bound behind your back, just raise your arms as high as you can and bring them down quickly on the area of the buttocks, and snap, you are free. Ouch!

Although it may be useful for plastic zip ties, metal-reinforced zip ties are another story...
