The 6.8 magnitude quake hit at about 1 p.m. EDT.
The strong earthquake on the Pacific coast of the country shook the capital on Thursday, sending frightened office workers streaming into the streets away from high-rise buildings.
It hit at a depth of 6.2 miles
It hit eight miles from Tecpan de Galeana, 24 miles from Atoyac de Alvarez, 37 miles from Petatlan, and 188 miles from Mexico City.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
