Dzhokhar Tsarnaev former ‘fling’: A student from University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, who was a described as a “former fling” of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, recently gave an interview to shed light on the 19-year-old.
“I met him standing outside a building and honestly, his face was enough to capture my heart,” she told Mother Jones. “I walked right up to him and I was like, ‘Oh my God, you are adorable. Can we hang out?’ I’m very forward.”
However, their relationship ended quickly because “he wanted to go further than I did, and that made me uncomfortable, and I realized that that’s not the kind of person that I wanted to be around,” she said.
“I don’t think that’s necessarily being a terrorist. I think that’s just called being a hands-y teenaged boy,” she added.
The girl also met his three friends who were accused of destroying evidence related to the bombing case.
“They all sort of idolized Jahar,” she said, referring to Tsarnaev’s other name.
The woman, who was not named, also said that she doubts religious extremism was the motive for the bombing. She said that he rarely talked about religion.
Tsarnaev is currently being treated in a federal hospital prison in Massachusetts and is communicating with investigators.
The report comes as the wife of older brother and slain suspect Tamerlan Tsarneav stopped cooperating with authorities.
The New York Times and CBS News reported that the wife, Katherine Russell, stopped communicating with investigators and now is relying on her lawyers this week. Authorities in the case reportedly were skeptical that she did not know anything about her husband’s alleged bombing plot, which killed three and wounded 200 in April.
