Jamie and Frank McCourt, who co-owned the Los Angeles Dodgers, finally reached a settlement in their bitter and costly divorce, opening the door for the sale of Dodger’s television rights.

A statement was issued by the office of a spokesman for Frank McCourt, and provided on the LA Times website. “Frank McCourt and Jamie McCourt are pleased to announce that they have settled their divorce case. The terms of the settlement, which are already in effect, will remain private. Jamie will be withdrawing her opposition to the Dodgers proposed sale of media rights and instead will be filing papers in support of the process proposed by the Dodgers.”

Mr. McCourt will now focus on his time and money on keeping MLB from forcing him to sell the Dodgers, something Commissioner Bud Selig is pressing for him to do. Mr. McCourt tried to sell the television rights to the team in order to gain capital and avoid bankruptcy. The move was blocked by Selig, and McCourt was forced to bankruptcy.

Tom Schieffer, who was once the President of the Texas Rangers, is running the day-to-day operations of the team.

A hearing is scheduled in bankruptcy court on Wednesday and will last through Halloween.
