Cops 2-pound joint: Police confiscated a two-pound joint that was rolled by students in California.
Video footage emerged of a cop carrying the massive joint, while throngs of students walked alongside them.
“Oh dude, we’re going to court, man; we’re totally going to court,” one of the students said.
Another student accused the police officers of “harassment.”
According to the uploader of the video, the students were from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
The video was also apparently recorded on April 20, or 4/20--the annual counterculture marijuana holiday.
Video sharing site Liveleak.com reported that police took the joint because it violated the legal limit for carrying pot, which is one ounce.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that more than 1,000 people showed up for the 4/20 festival at the campus.
Chief of Police Nadar Oweis told KION FOX 35: “It’s not that we don’t want to shut it down, but it’s tougher because we have limited resources and the high cost it would take to completely stop the event, is not something we have right now.”
He added that it would cost more money to shut it down than to simply keep it going.
