The historic center of the city Lviv is one of the most popular destinations in Ukraine for tourists. Lviv is known as the cultural capital of Ukraine and last year the city celebrated its 750th anniversary.
Lviv was a major trading center from the 15th to the 17th century, located at the crossroads of major trade routes between the east and the west. Cultures also ran through the city, and arts, craftsmanship, and publishing flourished in Lviv.
The city boasts some 2,500 historic monuments and architectural sights. Visitors from Poland, Germany, Austria, Belarus, the United States, and Russia are the most commonly spotted in Lviv. In 1998, the historic center of the city became a UNESCO World Heritage List.
