Singer and actress Celine Dion announced that she is pregnant and expecting twins after receiving medical assistance. Dion spoke recently to the press with her husband René Angelil about the good news for the family that struggled to have another child.
Dion and her husband made the announcement to a French newspaper in Montreal, Canada, that was posted online by People magazine Monday. This is big news for the pair. Dion went through multiple in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures before doctors announced that she was expecting twins.
“I feel like I’ve been pregnant more than a year. I never gave up. But I can tell you that it was physically and emotionally exhausting,” said Dion to Le Journal De Montreal.
Dion has a 9-year-old son named Rene-Charles, and has been working to add to her family for over a year. She underwent 6 total IVF treatments with one miscarriage before her latest announcement of twins. Dion was one of 14 children in a family that thrived on music and would like to have more children.
“Everyone knows that Céline has guts and is determined. These treatments were truly hard on my wife’s body. It wasn’t simple at all,” said Angelil.
Dion and Angelil share a passion for music. Angelil is a manager for musicians and has extensive knowledge of the modern music industry. Dion gained popularity in her native Quebec, Canada, before establishing her first US hit “Where Does My Heart Beat Now?”
After rising to stardom in the United States Dion became the most successful recording artist in Canadian history. She has sold more than 200 million records around the world.
