Beloved veteran actor Kirk Douglas passed away at his home in Beverly Hills, California, on Feb. 5, 2020. He was 103. His death has affected millions, and numerous celebrities have since shared their personal grief and condolences for the Douglas family on social media.

Kirk’s son, Hollywood actor Michael Douglas, acknowledged his father’s outstanding contribution to cinema before praising him for his most treasured role: as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his adoring family.

“To the world he was a legend,” Michael began, sharing his touching tribute on Instagram, “an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.

“But to me and my brothers, Joel and Peter, he was simply ‘Dad,’” Michael continued.

“Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad,” the actor shared, recalling his father’s 103rd birthday in December 2019, “I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”
