LeBron James is known for giving the Cleveland Cavs the push they need to take home a victory, and the fourth game against the Chicago Bulls was no exception. This time, James made a 45-foot jump shot in the midst of a game-winning drive.
The Cavs are not strangers to overcoming adversity, but they are still lacking an NBA Championship since Cleveland changed the teams name to the Cavs.
“You saw what happened last year, we went 8-0 through the first two rounds and we lost Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final. There’s nothing wrong with facing adversity and losing a game can make you better in the series. You want to go through some bumps and bruises throughout a series,” stated James to NBA.com.
LeBron James did not win the game alone, as Mo Williams scored 19 points and Antawn Jamison chipped in 12 points in the third quarter, reported Sports Illustrated.
The Cavs hit 53 percent of their shots, and James racked up his career stats in the playoffs by clenching his fifth triple double with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.
The Bulls’ Derrick Rose scored 21 points with limited support from his team, and with James dominating both ends of the court, it didn’t stop the Cavs leading the majority of the game to the end.
The match-up was held at the United Center in Chicago, with over 23,000 people in attendance.
Chicago, which hasn’t moved out of the first round in the playoffs since the days of Michael Jordan, faces a do-or-die moment on Tuesday at 8 p.m. when the two teams face off again.
