A video posted to YouTube captures what appears to be an NYPD officer choking a woman—not once, but twice.
The video, posted by user ‘Kiwi in Munich,’ has a description that reads:
“#NYPD Officer caught on camera CHOKING a woman! Wtf?!?!
The incident occurred in Manhattan’s 5th Precinct along a stretch of Hester Street near the corner of Mulberry Street in Little Italy, a few days ago.”
In response, a spokesman for the NYPD’s Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Public Affairs said:
“A preliminary review of the video revealed that this is not a recent incident, however it has been forwarded to Internal Affairs for further review.”
The officer shown in the video is now a lieutenant and the footage is more than two years old, the Daily News reported.
