Bristol Palin, who reached the Dancing With the Stars finals to square-off against Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey next week, said that she was the “most improved dancer,” according to Us Weekly on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said she was surprised she had made it this far.

“I’m thrilled! It hasn’t fully sunk in for me,” Palin told the magazine on Tuesday. “I know we’re in the finals, but it doesn’t seem real yet.”

There have been skeptics of her remaining on the show, and the judges didn’t always give her a good score. Palin and her dance partner Mark Ballas have been ranked at the bottom of the scoreboard more than five times.

But Palin said, “I know I’ve worked hard to get where I am ... I definitely feel like I’m the most improved dancer on this show—so I’m comfortable with that.”

According to the Associated Press, a Wisconsin man reportedly shot at his television over Palin’s dance, leading to a stand-off with SWAT team members for several hours.

Brandy, the latest contestant to be voted off the show, wished Palin well, according to USA Today.

“Bristol has a great sense of humor, and we laughed a lot together and learned a lot from DWTS,” Brandy told the newspaper in an email. “Like myself, I think that this show has given her a lot of self confidence.”
