The Boston Celtics emerged victorious after an intense playoff battle against the Miami Heat. But the game turned violent in the middle, causing the Celtics to lose their key player Kevin Garnett at a crucial juncture in the season.

Kevin Garnett is a pivotal part of the Boston Celtics line up. Serving as their power forward, the 6’11” Garnett has 14 years of game time in the NBA. He now faces a potential two game suspension, and that is not where the Celtics coaches want him to be.

The Boston Celtics will have to battle the Miami Heat in Game Two on Tuesday without one of their veteran players and fans are probably worried about the results.

After fellow Celtics team member Paul Pierce got injured, Kevin Garnett lost control and elbowed Heat player Quentin Richardson in the face, according to reports from ESPN. Pierce went down to the floor after intense pain from a shoulder injury that he got at a previous game against the San Antonio Spurs. Garnett is reported to have become upset about Richardson’s location in relation to the injury that Pierce sustained, which is reported to have resulted in Garnett’s violent outburst.

The outburst could cost Garnett two games on the bench, a $25,000 fine, and the Boston Celtics their chance at the finals.

“I have no beef with Q, I know him personally. I thought what he did was a bit disrespectful, standing over a guy hurt, you know, and talking nonsense. Before you knew it, it all just broke out. I gotta use my head, but all I saw was Paul hurt and that’s all I cared about at that time,” Kevin Garnett said in an interview with ESPN.

The Boston Celtics may have won their first playoff game against the Miami Heat with a score of 85-76 Saturday. But with Kevin Garnett riding the bench, the team may have actually suffered a major loss at a very crucial time.
