Alaska Airlines has announced that it will be introducing Windows tablets on some of its flights, providing access to music, games and videos on longer-distance journeys. From February 1, the new ‘Inflight Entertainment tablets powered by Microsoft’ will be available on board the carrier’s long-haul flights.

Passengers in First Class - as well as top-tier frequent flyers - will be able to enjoy the tablets free of charge. All other passengers will be asked to pay between $8 and $10 to rent the tablet for the duration of the flight.

The tablets will provide access to movies, TV shows, music and magazines, as well as internet access, where available. The devices also come pre-loaded with various Xbox games for Windows, including Microsoft Sudoku, Solitaire Collection and Mahjong.
