Belinda Carlisle, 1980’s pop singer, published her memoirs titled “Lips Unsealed,” outlining her career in the Los Angeles music scene. The book also explains Carlisle’s recovery from substance abuse after a life changing dream.
Carlisle released her memoirs in May and recently allowed ABC News to release the introduction of the book to the public for free viewing. In the book “Lips Unsealed” the singer talks about her rise to fame, her involvement with drugs, and her spiritual awakening that lead to her new way of living.
“Now, four and a half years later, the bad days are behind me but not forgotten. They made me who I am today -- a far better, healthier, smarter, more open and loving person than I ever thought was possible,” reads Lips Unsealed.
Carlisle had a dream where she saw herself dying from her ongoing struggle with substance abuse. The singer realized that enough was enough and cleaned up her act. Now she is back on the right track and sharing her experiences with the nation.
“Lips Unsealed” goes on to tell of Carlisle’s involvement in the Hollywood punk scene in the late 70’s, and her time spent in the Go-Go’s. The Go-Go’s were known for their hit “We Got The Beat” that helped the band earn a Grammy Nomination as Best New Artist in 1982.
Belinda Carlisle sold millions of records as a solo artist as well. Her single “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” was on top of the US Billboard Charts in 1987.
The singer recently made a series of television appearances including Celebrity Duets with Simon from American Idol as well as on Dancing With The Stars.
