An irate Mexican mother’s perfect aim has been showcased in a video that has amused millions of people.
The short clip, originally shared on Twitter, depicts a teenage daughter fleeing down the street from her angry mom while a male voice can be heard egging on the seething mom: “Da le, da le, da le,” in Spanish, meaning, “Do it, do it, do it!”
The infuriated mom rises to the challenge. She takes up her trusty flip-flop in hand and makes a careful calculation before sending it arcing in perfect trajectory to hit home. The expertly thrown sandal hits the teen squarely between the shoulders and stops her in her tracks about 100 feet away.
The gathered group consequently erupts in laughter as the teen shrieks, stumbles, and rolls on the ground. She has been thwarted by her mother’s incredible aim. Thankfully, the whole thing was captured on video for all to enjoy.
After the video was shared online, people took to social media in droves to comment on the footage. Some praised the mom for her marksmanship, some argued that the video couldn’t possibly be real, and some simply marveled at the spectacle.
According to the British media outlet, the footage was filmed in Mexico, and the original Twitter post went viral, amassing over 1.3 million views and 60,000 likes. Popular comments included: “That flip-flop has a heat-seeking radar for sure!”
“All my respect and admiration to that lady! That should be an Olympic sport!” another said.
“In México, most if not all moms are the masters of the ancient martial art called ‘La chancla,’” the Facebook user joked. Seemingly, chancla throwing is a notoriously popular technique for Mexican mothers attempting to chastise their disobedient daughters.
“As a mother with a teenage daughter myself,” another user commented, “that woman is my new superhero.”
Someone else joined in the fun by responding, “That child must learn how to master the ‘zig-zag.’ It’s her only chance of escaping!” Indeed!
