Airline ‘daddy shirt’: The t-shirt that once belonged to a 7-year-old boy whose father died was returned to him by Delta Airlines.
Cole Holzer’s father died several years when he fell as he was hanging up Christmas Lights, reported WDAY television.
The Nike shirt his father wore when he died became Cole’s most prized possession.
“Ever since he will lay out and spray his dad’s cologne on it and cuddle up with it and sing the daddy song to go to bed,” Tonya Holzer, his mother, told the station.
Cole nearly lost the shirt when his family flew to California on vacation. When his family was on board a flight in March, the boy left it on the plane.
“We get in the car and we are on the interstate…and he suddenly screams ‘I lost it, I can’t find it, I can’t find it,’” Tonya said.
A family friend later spoke with Delta, asking them to return the shirt. The airline then informed its workers to keep an eye out for the item.
Eventually, a worker found it in the garbage and got it back to the family.
