‘24’ movie: The projected director for the ‘24’ movie said it likely won’t go through.
The director of the “24” movie, which will be based on the hit show of the same name about spy Jack Bauer, said the movie will not move forward.
Antoine Fuqua, who was tapped to direct the film, said the movie based on the Fox television show starring Keifer Sutherland is “not happening.”
“I don’t think it’s gonna happen at all, definitely not with me,” Fuqua told the IndieWire website. “I met with Kiefer. Fox wanted to do it. It was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch].”
Sutherland, he added, was not “able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing.”
Fuqua, who directed “Training Day” in 2001, is presently working on a film called “Southpaw,” and is looking to work on projects about the lives of rapper Tupac Shakur and jazz trumpet player and composer Miles Davis.
The “24” film allegedly would depict main character Jack Bauer going to Europe in the first of what could have been a trilogy of movies, according to The Guardian. The films would have been linked to the television series, which first premiered in 2001.
The film, Sutherland told IGN in 2010, would condense the 24-hour time-frame of the show into two hours. “We’ve always had to have the situation come to us,” he said. “But now it’s feasible to get [Jack Bauer] from Eastern Europe to England [during the movie].”
