A fight over a boy led to the death of a 16-year-old high school student in Delaware.
A female sophomore at Howard High School of Technology was engaged in a fight, which resulted in hitting her head on a sink and losing consciousness, according to the school’s principal, Dr. Stanley Spoor.
Authorities received the call at 8:18 a.m. on April 21. The girl was airlifted to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in critical condition, and was pronounced dead shortly after.
“The student is a 10th grader from Newcastle and we believe that there were two other students involved in the incident. They are currently being questioned by the Wilmington Police Department who are conducting the investigation,” said Spoor. “It is a tragic day for Howard, and the students of Howard.”
Classes at the school have been cancelled.
The Wilmington Police Department is leading an on-going and active investigation.
