BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Members of the audience in Buenos Aires expressed being deeply moved by Shen Yun Performing Arts as the New York-based company presented its all-new 2026 program showcasing “China before communism” in the city.

Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage after much of it was lost in the cultural revolution after communism took hold in the Middle Kingdom.
On April 9, Luciana Ambrosio, a labor law specialist, attended the opening performance at the Teatro Ópera with her husband, César Madeo, an engineer. The couple was clearly touched, especially Ms. Ambrosio, who had tears streaming down her face as she spoke.

‘A Gentle Touch to the Soul’

“It feels very special. It takes me to a different level beyond the earthly—to an ethereal level,” Ms. Ambrosio said, speaking through tears.

Mr. Madeo added, “It feels like a gentle touch to the soul.”

He noted that the performance for him carried a deeper reminder.

“This reminds you that you should always stay connected with life. Because this show is life. And honestly, you forget that these beautiful things exist,” he said.

The couple also resonated with the spiritual dimension presented in the performance.

“I think that, well, all roads lead to Rome. And this in particular interests me. Also, since I practice Chinese martial arts, it feels like something more,” Mr. Madeo said.

‘What You Give Comes Back’

Ms. Ambrosio said that the scene illustrating the idea of karma moved her the most.

“For me, the dance story ‘You Reap What You Sow’ stands out,” she said. “For example, when a person asks for food, and some people kick him, and others give him something; later, what they give comes back to them. It feels like cruelty comes back in a negative way. And when you give something, something beautiful comes back.”

Mr. Madeo added that he observed the same essence repeating in every act.

Reflection on Values

The couple both said they see the importance of traditional values in today’s world. Mr. Madeo noted that these values closely align with their Catholic beliefs.

Ms. Ambrosio added, “Values matter—kindness, generosity.”

She further shared her thoughts on how Shen Yun encourages self-reflection. “It shows that … well, it feels like the devil pushes us to act in a negative way. And you start to think about things you do every day; you realize those are temptations to take the easy path and act wrongly, even if it’s not on a big scale. But when you act badly on a small scale, it’s because you gave in to temptation. The show invites you to reflect.”

Praise for the Artists

Ms. Ambrosio also praised the performers’ artistry.

“The artistic quality of everyone on stage is incredible. At times, they float. At times, they fly. Fantastic! Honestly, it really was a wonderful experience; I highly recommend it.”

Mr. Madeo likewise expressed his appreciation for the artists and their message.

“To the artists, honestly, they give us a life lesson to break the everyday routine. Because you let yourself go with this inertia, and sometimes you forget these values. I send my warmest regards to you all, and thank each and every one of the members.”
