The severed head of a missing woman has been found in a suitcase in Osaka, Japan, police said on Saturday, Feb. 24, according to Fox News.
Police arrested a 26-year-old American several days before discovering the head. The man entered a building together with the victim on Feb. 16, according to security footage. The woman never left the building, according to Japan Times.
The woman said on Instagram that she was going to meet “Jay” shortly before the disappearance.
Police started the investigation after the woman’s mother called because she could not reach her daughter.
The American man was arrested in Nara Prefecture on Thursday on suspicion of confining the victim in an apartment in Osaka’s Higashinari Ward, which he was using as a vacation rental.
