What could be the highest suspension bridge in North America is being built at the renowned Whistler Blackomb ski resort in British Columbia.
The suspension bridge will make it possible to walk between the 2180-metre-high Whistler Peak and West Ridge, giving hikers a 130 metre-long bridge over what is called the Whistler bowl.
Whistler Bowl in winter. (OOroyOo/Wikimedia Commons)Although the bridge itself spans a gap of “only” 50 metres in height, its location at the top of Whistler mountain gives thrillseekers an additional kick and a spectacular view.
A new viewing platform will also be built on the West Ridge, giving hikers and Express Chair riders a comfortable place to experience the beauty of nature.

The Project is a $345-million investment plan aimed at making it possible for the resort to offer revenue-generating activities in all weather conditions, all year round.
The bridge is scheduled to open for sightseeing sometime this summer.
