NEW DELHI—Lotfullah Najafizada, 33, director of Afghanistan’s biggest news broadcaster, TOLOnews, has seen things up close in his war-torn country—death threats, deaths, injuries to his employees, and accolades for fearless journalism.

The Epoch Times spoke with Kabul-based Najafizada by telephone about his thoughts on the current situation in Afghanistan after President Joe Biden declared the drawdown of U.S. troops by Sept. 11.
