LONDON—The number of people heading out to shops across Britain rose by 0.5 percent in the week to March 20 from a week earlier, the eighth rise in nine weeks despite a national lockdown, market researcher Springboard said on Monday.

It said shopper numbers, or footfall, climbed 4 percent on UK high streets, but fell 4.4 percent in retail parks and 2.3 percent in shopping centres. Footfall across Britain remained 40.8 percent lower than during the same week last year, Springboard said.
