Former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson will be extending his January trip to Alberta to include an additional speaking engagement in Edmonton.
“We have 4,000 on a waitlist, so we decided on adding a show and we thought Edmonton would make sense… we know the demand is massive,” Christian Darbyshire, an organizer of the event, told the Edmonton Journal.
Following a Jan. 24 event in Calgary, including a conversation with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, Mr. Carlson will hold an evening talk at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
While Smith will not be a part of the Edmonton event, prominent Canadian conservative commentators such as Conrad Black and Rex Murphy will join him.
“It’ll be Rex and Tucker and Conrad on stage at the same time so it will be really quite something,” Mr. Darbyshire told the Journal. “You’re going to get to hear from them all, interesting commentary on global affairs.”
Mr. Darbyshire said while Mr. Carlson has a reputation for being a polarizing figure in American politics, the response to his appearance is comparable to what he has witnessed with previous speakers.
“It doesn’t really matter what side of the spectrum you’re on, you’re always going to have someone who disagrees,” he said.
Mr. Carlson first began his career as a journalist writing for the Conservative magazine the Weekly Standard, before hosting shows on CNN and MSNBC. Mr. Carlson became one of Fox News’ most-watched newscasters for several years before he was let go in April 2023.
Mr. Carlson has since begun hosting a new show called Tucker on platform X, formerly known as Twitter. He has plans to launch a new subscription-based media company, with weekly episodes of shows like, “Tucker Carlson Uncensored” and “Ask Tucker.”
