A third man has been charged from the fatal Melbourne crash in April that killed four Victoria police officers. The multi-car collision involved two police vehicles, a truck, and a Porsche.
Three divisions of Victoria police carried out an “extensive 3-month investigation” leading up to Tuteru’s arrest.
The two other men arrested in connection to the fatal collision are the Porsche driver, Richard Pusey; charged with multiple offences including failing to render assistance and destruction of evidence, and the truck driver Mohinder Singh Bajwa; charged in April with four counts of culpable driving.
The third is 49-year-old Tuteru, a manager of the logistics company that owns the truck involved in the fatal crash. He has been penalised for safety breaches including truck defects and using fatigued drivers, reported AAP.
An out-of-session hearing was held on the evening of Aug. 2 in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court where both Pusey and Bajwa were trialled. Tuteru was granted bail and told to return to court on Oct. 26.
At the time of the incident, Pusey was urinating on the side of the freeway, away from the others. He was the only person on the ground to avoid death.
Leading Senior Constable Lynnette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris, and Constable Joshua Prestney lost their lives that evening.
Pusey is facing over a dozen charges and is due in court on Aug. 13.
