A strong 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao Island in the Philippines on Sunday at 12:22 p.m. local time.
The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded around 50 kilometers (31 miles) southwest of Mindanao capital city of Davao from a depth of 15.6 kilometers (9.7 miles), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
There are no reports of any tsunami warnings. Aftershocks are expected.
Update: Almost 1 1/2 hours later, another strong 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck to the south east in the Bismarck Sea, north of near Papua New Guinea.
