A study on unidentified aerial objects in Canadian skies is set to be released by the fall of this year, says Canada’s Chief Science Advisor Mona Nemer.

“We are drafting the report while continuing to gather information and we should be on track for releasing the report at the end of summer, early fall,” Ms. Nemer said during meeting of the standing committee on science and research on Feb. 27.

“We have gathered a lot of historical information. I think our report is going to be quite fascinating on the historic front, so stay tuned.”

The initiative, dubbed the Sky Canada Project, was started in 2022 to examine how “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP)” reports made by the public are managed. The report is expected to make recommendations for improvements.

As part of the process, Ms. Nemer said she and her team have been in touch with several science experts in other countries to gather information.

“Sometimes the information is more complete or more cryptic than we'd like it to be,” she said.

Ms. Nemer said they have talked with scientists at NASA, as well as some in Europe.

“We’re taking a very thorough approach to this and making sure that our recommendations will be based on the best evidence and interactions that we’ve had,” she said, adding that the project is also looking into “if we need to improve on the system and help us to align our efforts with our allies.”

However, she noted that the study is not about proving or disproving alien life forms, but to be more transparent.

“The reason we have taken this on is not because we believe one way or the other about extraterrestrial or anything like that. It’s because we believe that it’s important that we have a scientific approach and transparency to how we assemble the information,” she told the committee.

Ms. Nemer said there has been a lot of interest in the study.

“We’ve made it public that we are carrying out the study. I must say that it has generated a lot of public interest.”

In 2021, a briefing to then-defence minister Harjit Sajjan said there were about 1,000 UFO sightings a year in Canada.

Researchers and politicians in other countries, including the United States, have also been gathering information on what happens in the skies.

In May, 2023, an informal gathering of the Five Eyes allies was held at the Pentagon. Five Eyes is an intelligence alliance that was formed during World War II and includes Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S.
The Epoch Times was informed at the time that the meeting details were classified, but did involve the “sharing of information on the subject of UAP.”
