Mounties in Surrey, B.C., have cancelled an Amber Alert for a two-month-old girl who has been found safe in Chilliwack.
Police had asked for the public’s help in finding the baby, saying she was believed to have been abducted by her father and the pair were travelling in a 2002 Chevy Suburban four-dour SUV.
Mounties say officers had responded to a call Saturday morning and, as part of their investigation, were speaking with a man in that SUV who had a an infant with him, but he unexpectedly drove off.
They say officers then tried to pull him over but he did not stop.
Police say they later found out more information that led them to believe the infant was in “imminent danger,” so an Amber Alert was issued at 12:27 p.m.
“Police immediately began receiving tips, and that is what led us to being able to quickly and safely locate the infant,” she said in a news release Saturday.
