Support for Victoria’s Labor Premier Daniel Andrews’ handling of the CCP virus pandemic has fallen for the third month in a row in the latest Newspoll poll.

This comes as the state government struggles to control the COVID-19 outbreak in the state where new confirmed cases of the virus number in the triple digits every day.

In the latest Newspoll by News Corp’s The Australian, Andrews’ overall rating was shown to have dropped from 58 percent in April, to 40 percent in June, and now to 20 percent in July.

During that same period, the number of people polled who think the premier is handling the CCP virus pandemic “badly” has grown from 11 percent to 36 percent.

The poll was conducted between July 15-18, a day before mask-wearing became mandated across Metro Melbourne.

Greater Melbourne and Mitchell Shire are currently under lockdown for six weeks until Aug. 19, as a result of the virus outbreak.

New South Wales (NSW) residents were also asked how well they thought their state leader was handling the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as novel coronavirus.
NSW Liberal Party Premier Gladys Berekjiklian’s poll numbers for her handling of the pandemic also worsened slightly dropping from 77 percent to 68 percent.

Prime Minister’s Rating in Victoria and NSW

A separate survey asking voters in Victoria and NSW about Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s performance has shown that his approval rating has gone up in both states; up 5 points in NSW, and up 7 points in Victoria.
Morrison’s satisfaction rate had soared since April when he spearheaded the international call for an investigation into the origins of the CCP virus.

Probes into Victorian Government’s Handling of CCP Virus Outbreaks

Two inquiries into the Victorian Labor governments handling of the CCP virus are being conducted.
An investigation by the Osmundbun is looking into possible human rights violations towards residents put under hard lockdown in ten of Melbourne’s public housing towers. Residents were forbidden to leave their units or go outside for exercise.
The Melbourne Hotel Quarantine program inquiry began on July 20 and is looking into alleged mistakes made by government decision-makers, which may have contributed to the second-wave of COVID-19 outbreaks.
