The video shows a grey, four-door car parked outside a Scotiabank, which police identified as being located in the area of Victoria Street West and Gordon Street in the Town of Whitby. The video then captures three individuals running away from the bank, with police in pursuit.
According to the YRP, police were called to a currency exchange store on Jan. 20, shortly after 10 a.m., in the Yonge Street and North Lake Road area in the City of Richmond Hill, to respond to a report of an attempted armed robbery. Two male suspects armed with a firearm attempted to get inside the store as an employee was opening for the day, police learned.
“The victim was able to flee and the two male suspects left in a dark-coloured Mazda,” said the YRP news release.
Air2 located the vehicle, which had a stolen licence plate, on Highway 407 and monitored its travel into the Durham Region. The four male suspects then allegedly committed an armed robbery at the Scotiabank and tried to flee.
