A man has been charged with 70 offences following an investigation into the long-term sexual and physical abuse of a woman and six children on the NSW mid-north coast.
In June detectives began investigating reports a 45-year-old woman and six children had been sexually or physically abused by a man known to them between 2015 and 2018.
NSW Police arrested a 61-year-old man at a home near Taree on September 2.
He was later charged with 70 offences including grooming a child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity, stalking and intimidating, assault, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated indecency with a victim under 16, refusal to provide necessities of life and sexual intercourse without consent.
The man appeared at Taree Local Court on September 3, where he was formally refused bail to reappear on Tuesday.
Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad detectives searched a property near Taree on September 8, with electronic storage devices seized from the home.
Three firearms were also recovered during a search of a dam and are undergoing further investigation.
