Transport Canada has issued recall notices for a variety of vehicles over the past week, citing safety issues like faulty door latches and potential battery fires.

More than a dozen vehicle brands have been recalled, either for newly identified issues or for a second round of repairs to address ongoing problems.

Here’s a look at which trucks, sedans, and SUVs have made the list.

Mercedes-Benz

More than 5,000 Mercedes-Benz Metris vans with model years 2016 to 2019 are being recalled due to risk of tire failure that could cause a crash, according to an updated recall notice issued by Transport Canada.

Certain vehicles have gross axle weight ratings that are greater than the maximum load capacity allowed for the tires, which could lead to tire overload, the March 13 notice says.

“Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash,” the notice says.

Transport Canada is also recalling 341 hybrid AMG Mercedes-Benz models due to a software issue that could cause a loss of power to the wheels.

The following models are affected in the 2024 and 2025 model years: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.

The last recall is for a single 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class due to potential manufacturing defects in the rear passenger seat rails, the notice says. The issue could lead to seat movement during a collision.
Owners of all impacted Mercedes-Benz vehicles will receive a notification by mail, instructing them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for repair.

Ford

The front axle shafts may not have been installed properly on certain 2021 and 2022 Ford EcoSport SUVs, Transport Canada says, noting that the recall only affects vehicles equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

“If the vehicle is parked and the parking brake isn’t applied, the vehicle could roll away,” the notice says. “A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.”

A recall has also been issued for over 200 F-150 Lightning electric trucks, spanning model years 2022 to 2024, due to concerns related to battery performance. The Transport Canada notice said the battery modules could overheat and short circuit.

Ford is recommending vehicle owners adjust their maximum charge setting to 80 percent until the necessary repairs are finalized, the notice said.

A separate recall notice about a software problem impacts 39 Ford pickup trucks. The problem is resulting in an incorrect rearview camera image being shown when 2023 F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks are in reverse, the notice said.

Only trucks equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature are affected by the recall.

Owners will be notified by mail to take their truck to a dealership for the required updates.

Audi and Volkswagen

A recall has been issued for more than 2,000 Audi e-tron vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2022 because of the possibility the high-voltage battery could overheat, creating a fire risk.
Once vehicles are brought to a dealership, a mechanic will evaluate the battery modules and replace them if deemed necessary, the recall notice says.

Audi recommends setting the maximum charge setting of vehicles at 80 percent until the final recall repairs are completed.

A number of other vehicles are also being recalled due to the potential failure of the on-board charger, which may result in a loss of power to the wheels, a separate notice says. The vehicles involved in the recall include the 2024 and 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron, along with the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4.
Other models are experiencing software malfunctions that could make it challenging for drivers to determine when the transmission is in neutral, potentially resulting in the vehicle rolling away if the brakes are not applied, another advisory says.
The issue affects several Audi and Volkswagen vehicles made from 2021 and 2023. The list can be found here.
The company will notify owners by mail to advise them to get their vehicles checked at a dealership.

Land Rover

Transport Canada has issued two recalls for more than 9,000 Range Rovers and Range Rover Sport vehicles due to a potential issue with the doors not latching securely. The problem, the notices said, is the doors could open while driving.
The issues affects models ranging from 2013 to 2016.
Owners will be notified via mail to bring their vehicle to the closest dealership for repair.

General Motors

More than 3,400 Cadillac and Chevrolet models are being recalled by General Motors due to concerns the transmission control valve may deteriorate and result in a loss of pressure over time.
The recall only affects vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmission, the recall notice says.
Owners will receive notification from General Motors about the recall by mail, instructing them to update the transmission control module software at a dealership.

BMW

A recall has been issued for 27 BMW X3 SUVs, stemming from possible connectivity issues between the 48 V battery and the starter-generator. The issue impacts 2025 models that are equipped with a 2.0L engine.
“A short circuit could increase the risk of a fire,” the advisory said. “A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.”

BMW will send out notifications to vehicle owners via mail, advising them to have the nuts of their vehicles inspected and tightened if required at an authorized dealership, the notice said. The dealership will also take care of replacing the 48 V battery cable or the starter-generator when appropriate.
