Police rescued two men trapped inside a flooded elevator in a basement building near Alliance Avenue and Rockliffe Boulevard on Aug. 7.
The water was 6-feet high inside, leaving the men with only one foot of air space above to breathe, according to a tweet by the Toronto Police Service.
The officers swam to the elevator and pried open the door with a crowbar, successfully rescuing the men inside.
Toronto Fire Services and Emergency Medical Service arrived on scene as well, and no life threatening injuries were reported.
The flood was the result of heavy rainstorms that caused power outages, flash floods, and submerged vehicles.
The TTC tweeted that there is no subway service between Finch West and Wilson due to about 3 feet of flooding.
According to the chief of Toronto Fire Services, Matthew Pegg, the TFS responded to 714 emergency calls between 7 a.m. on August 7 and 7 a.m. August 8.
