The Australian Federal Police is investigating after a man was reported to have caused disturbance on a Qantas flight from Bali to Melbourne.
The 28-year-old man from Victoria allegedly began behaving aggressively and attacked several passengers and an air hostess while the plane was flying mid-air.
The man was then restrained by fellow passengers and crew, with images on social media showing a flight attendant pinning the man on the floor with his kneel.
“He’s still been restrained after 4 hours. Everyone is safe. What a bloody flight!” the witness wrote.
One witness said it took three or four passengers to restrain him and take him down.
“It was pretty scary, to be honest,” the passenger told the Sydney Morning Herald.
The man was kept on the floor for about four hours before Flight QF46 landed safely at Melbourne Airport on Dec. 31. Upon arrival, police officers boarded the flight and questioned the man. He was later taken to a medical assessment.
“The AFP will continue to investigate the incident,” an AFP spokesperson said.
“No charges have been laid at this stage.”
A Qantas spokesperson said the airline worked with police to manage the incident.
“The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive of threatening behaviour,” they said, according to Nine News.
“We’ve been working with the authorities who met the aircraft on arrival into Melbourne.”
The flight was an overnight service from the popular holiday destination, which left late Saturday night and arrived early Sunday local time.
