A man has been arrested on Saturday morning as police investigate human remains found in two suitcases in Bristol.

The remains, found on Wednesday night near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, are that of two adult men, whom the police believe they have identified.

During a joint investigation by The Metropolitan Police and the Avon and Somerset Police, officers have also found more remains at an address in London on Friday.

Post-mortem examinations on the additional remains were yet to take place when the Met made the announcement on Friday night, but officers believed they belong to the same two victims.

In a statement issued on Saturday morning, the Met said officers arrested a 34-year-old man in the Bristol area in the early hours of Saturday,

“The man, whose image had been released by officers on 12 July, was safely detained by Avon and Somerset armed officers at Temple Meads Station and was taken into custody, where he remains. He will be taken to London for questioning later today,” the Met said.

The Met added that they are not looking for anyone else at this stage.

On Friday, The Met identified the man they were looking for as 24-year-old Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera.

In an email to The Epoch Times on Saturday, the force said it had misstated the man’s age, which is 34.

Officers have also arrested a 36-year-old man at an address in Greenwich early on Friday. The man was released on the same day without charge.

At 11: 57 p.m. on Wednesday, Avon and Somerset Police received a report of a man with a suitcase acting suspiciously on Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The man had left before officers arrived 10 minutes later, and officers also found a second suitcase nearby.

The force later handed the lead to the Met because the man they were looking for was believed to have travelled to Bristol from London on Wednesday before taking a taxi to the bridge.

The man was described as black, with a beard, and the police released an image while warning members of the public not to approach him.

On Friday, the Met located a crime scene in a flat in Scott’s Road, Shepherds Bush, west London, where officers found more remains.

“ Additional post-mortem examinations will be arranged as soon as possible. At this early stage, officers believe that the remains are connected to the human remains found in Bristol, and that there are still two male victims,” the Met said in a statement released on Friday.

“Officers believe they know the identity of the two men, although formal identification is yet to take place. Enquiries continue to locate and inform their next of kin.

“Both victims are thought to have been known to Mosquera and the Met is appealing for information on his whereabouts,” the statement read.
