An Australian Instagram model died via hanging after she was found dead on a yacht reportedly owned by a Mexican billionaire off the Greek island of Kefalonia.
Sinead McNamara, 20, often posted photos of her travels on Instagram, where she had nearly 30,000 followers.
“It is not yet possible to say if she was psychologically pushed to act or was under the influence of drugs at the time,” Boyiokas said. A toxicology report would take “some weeks” to conduct.
“She was upset and made comments about a relationship ending or some sort of trouble in her private life,” a source told News Ltd. on Sept. 4.
The report said that she had spent four months working on the Mayan Queen IV, which is about 305 feet in length and owned by Mexican billionaire Alberto Bailleres. News Ltd. reported that Bailleres was not on the boat at the time, and he and his family left two days before the woman’s death.
She wrote last month on Instagram: “Living & working on a boat seeing all that the world has to offer. Yep I think I have it pretty good.”
The boat’s crew were alerted by his screams. They called the authorities and tried to save the woman, but she died while being airlifted to a hospital in Athens.
“We were actually celebrating at first because we thought she had been saved. It was later we heard she had died,” the skipper’s friend said.
“You won’t find too many people will not want to talk about this,” one local bar manager told News Ltd. about her death. “It’s not that they don’t care it’s … people like this, that sort of boat, it’s difficult to get the right information.”
The Greek coroner reportedly told McNamara’s mother and sister not to head to the morgue. He stated that it would be difficult “to see her in such bad state,” according to the NY Post.
McNamara’s final Instagram post talked about learning the Polish word for blue: “niebieski.”
“A young polish (sic) girl from my last boat taught me it when we were jet skiing around the most beautiful turquoise water in the med last year. It has been my favorite word ever since,” she said on the social media platform.
