Fall is the best time to head out for some apple picking in Ontario, and some of the province’s U-Pick farms offer seasonal adventure that the whole family can enjoy. 
Here are 10 local U-pick farms that are ready to supply your apple a day.

Pingle’s Farm Market, Hampton

Home of the Harvest Festival, Pingle’s Farm Market offers pick-your-own-apple events from September to October. Visitors to the farm, just east of Oshawa, will also enjoy the giant corn maze, mini corn maze, Pingle’s playland, wagon rides, pumpkins, and sunflowers. 

The Apple Orchid, Hamilton

When you pick your own apples at The Apple Orchid, you can also get full access to wagon rides, animal visits, sunflower fields, corn maze, hay barn, walking trails, and more. Guests can also pick pumpkins and sunflowers at the farm. 

Puddicombe Estate Farms, Hamilton

The family behind Puddicombe Estate Farms has been fruit farming since 1797. Visitors are welcome to pick their own fruit, including apples, which are available from September to October.  

Carl Laidlaw Orchids, Brampton

Adventure awaits at Carl Laidlaw Orchids where visitors can enjoy various activities along with picking fresh apples. From wagon rides to a corn maze to a barn beam walk, pumpkin patch, playing in the grain table, meeting the farm animals, and taking a river walk, there is so much to do at the orchids. 

Dixie Orchards, Inglewood

Apple picking at Dixie Orchards, northwest of Brampton, starts mid-August and runs through the fall. They also have pumpkins and hazelnuts that can be collected by visitors. Tractor and wagon rides are offered to visitors. Other activities on the farm include a corn maze, straw jump, and visiting with the farm animals. 

Brooks Farms, Mount Albert

Every weekend in September and October at Brooks Farms, east of Newmarket, is a celebration of fall. Visitors can take in various activities including bouncy ponies, horse swings, two pirate ships, corn maze, rubber duck races, a play structure, wagon rides, jumping pillows, zip line, puppet shows, pig races, pumpkin canons, and more. Apple picking will also be available every weekend. 

Algoma Orchards, Newcastle

Over 1,600 acres of apples offer variety for visitors at Algoma Orchards. Algoma also hosts a gourmet market that offers deli and baked goods, fresh produce, and more. A variety of types of apples are grown, with work underway on six new varieties. 

​Brantview Apples, St. George

Open daily during harvest season, Brantview Apples near Brantford is open rain or shine. For weekend visitors, there are wagon rides available that add to the farm fun. Visitors can pick from 22 varieties of apples. 

Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm, Caledon

Apples and strawberries are available for the picking at Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm. Visitors can also enjoy wagon rides on the weekends, weather permitting. There is also apple cider and a fall favourite, candied apples. 

Great Lakes Farms, Port Stanley

U-pick apples, peaches, and pumpkins are available at Great Lakes Farms. Guests can also enjoy the fun farm, which includes playgrounds, ziplines, corn maze, pumpkin launcher, jumping pillow, pirate ship, pedal tractors, and a sandbox.
