Fried chicken lovers, July 6 is your day!

Although fried chicken is a year-round favourite for many, National Fried Chicken Day will see fast-food restaurants from coast to coast serving up deals to help Canadians celebrate the crispy and crunchy goodness that is also a top summertime choice.

Mary Brown’s Chicken

Canadian-owned and operated Mary Brown’s Chicken will be offering its signature chicken deal for $4.99 to mark Fried Chicken Day. Included in the meal are two pieces of chicken and taters.

It’s the third time the restaurant is participating in the event. Jeff Barlow, chief marketing officer at Mary Brown’s Chicken, says the food chain wants customers to enjoy a delicious meal together with their loved ones on this occasion.

“And what better day to offer this fantastic deal than on National Fried Chicken Day?” he said in a July 4 news release. “It’s the perfect time to come together as a community and enjoy some mouthwatering fried chicken and tasty taters.”

Started in 1969 in St. John’s, the restaurant currently has over 260 locations across Canada.

Jollibee

Fried chicken restaurant Jollibee is giving away free fried chicken in recognition of National Fried Chicken Day. Between July 4 and July 10, when customers order a 10 piece Jolly Crispy Chicken Bucket, they’ll receive two free Jolly Crispy Chicken pieces. Flavours include spicy or regular.

The Asian restaurant says although the tradition was originally observed in the United States, it has since gained international recognition from fried chicken enthusiasts around the globe.

“Proclaim your love for fried chicken by celebrating National Fried Chicken Day with Jollibee’s beloved fried chicken,” says the fast-food restaurant, which has over 100 stores around North American and 1,500 worldwide.

Kentucky Fried Chicken

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1930s in Kentucky, is introducing its customers to International Fried Chicken Day on its website.

“[I]t’s our favorite day of the year, because we get to show off our finger lickin’ good chicken from all over the world,” the restaurant says.

In time for the special occasion, KFC has several online offers, including an Ultimate Bucket for 2 and a Family Bucket Feast so customers can celebrate with their loved ones.
