The Harvey’s restaurant chain is offering special food deals to celebrate its 65th anniversary.

The company has hidden 1,650 free burger cards across Canada around Harvey’s locations and iconic landmarks. There are also four VIP passes that allow the holder free Harvey’s meals for a year. Clues will be given on Harvey’s social media channels.

Those who find a card can get a free original or veggie burger, according to the Harvey’s website. Cards are valid until Aug. 31 but only on mobile app orders and there is a limit of one deal per person.
“Harvey’s is honoured to be celebrating 65 years of creating customized burgers just the way Canadians like them,” said Michael Nault, COO of Harvey’s Canada. “We are excited to invite our guests to help us mark the occasion in a variety of fun and engaging ways.”

In addition to the card hunt, the restaurant is offering a flame-grilled original or veggie burger for $1.65 from April 1 to 7. The offer is available through the Harvey’s app.

Ontario residents have the most opportunity to take advantage of the offer with 200 stores across the province. In Quebec, there are 51 Harvey’s locations, followed by 18 in Alberta, six in New Brunswick, five in Nova Scotia, three in Newfoundland and Labrador, and one location in both Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island.

The company is also releasing limited-edition retro-styled merchandise on April 1, including made-to-order t-shirts. Five dollars from each item sold will go to Tree Canada.

In 2021, Harvey’s made a commitment to plant 250,000 trees across Canada. They have planted nearly 209,000 so far, according to the website.
“Through our Tree Canada partnership, we have been able to restore more than 290 acres of Canadian forests – much of them close to the communities that we are a part of,” chief operating officer of Harvey’s, Michael Nault said on the website.

Harvey’s History

The restaurant was started in 1959 by entrepreneur Richard Mauran. As he was searching for a name for his burger place, he came across a dealership on Danforth Avenue in Toronto called Harvey’s. The dealership was closing and its sign was for sale.

Mr. Mauran bought the sign and put it over his burger location in Richmond Hill, which became the first Harvey’s burger restaurant in Canada.

Harvey’s is known for its unique approach to allow customers to select their own toppings. The restaurants offer a topping bar with various options, including onions, pickles, cheese, jalapenos, olives, and sauces.

It has also created some signature items like its ghost pepper sauce and “Frings,” which is a side order of fries and onion rings.
